Please note before playing:

  • “is this a good time?” is a game for the smartphone and is played in the messenger Telegram (download of the free Android or iPhone app here). The use of a smartphone is recommended, though the desktop version of Telegram may also be used with some limitations.

  • The game can be started with the button “ENTER” on HAU4. Please start the respective dialogue by clicking the button “Start” in or enter “/start” in the Telegram chat.

  • Total play time: about three to four hours. Due to the nature of the piece, you will be receiving messages over the course of a couple days. You will be able to control the rate of the messages for the most part, though there will be some built-in breaks. At times, you might have to wait up to a day for the next message.

In the interactive messenger game “is this a good time?” by the Berlin-based collective FEELINGS, the audience plays the lead character, chats, navigates through video games and makes decisions that change the course of the story.

You return to the village where you grew up. Your late grandmother’s house needs to be cleared out. Amidst fields, woods and packed boxes, you use your mobile to check in with the city and message people from the village. Familiar faces, secrets and ghosts emerge, bringing forgotten heartache and new conflicts to the surface: where do you give in, and where do you stand your ground? What do you unearth, and what do you leave behind?

Since 2017, the duo FEELINGS has been known for their interactive story games. Their work stems from an interest in physicality, identity and situatedness – often linked to biographical perspectives. FEELINGS develops online and offline performances, audio pieces and games that draw the audience into emotional, immersive situations.

The duo previously developed the story game “i saw you called?” for “Love is a Verb #1”, which also centres on a dialogue exploring past relationships. The game is still available at the HAUthek on HAU4. The game was developed using the “adaptor:eX” programme by the Berlin collective machina eX.

Note:

You need the Telegram app to take part.
