The documentary "Needed Spaces" accompanies two groups of artists who worked in residency at HAU in spring 2022.
The conversation "Spaces Recap" took place after the residencies and revolves around digital project development and the further development of HAU4.
The "Spaces Recap" conversation documented here took place between HAU staff and Philisha Kraatz (dgtl fmnsm) following the residencies of Digital Lab #2. They talked about hybrid work processes, collective work and the further development of HAU4. Right at the beginning of the film it explains the different levels of this research platform.
As part of a four-week residency at the “Digital Lab #2”, ghostrich&cylixe and Iyo Bisseck, Petja Ivanova, Rain Rose and Kaya Zakrzewska researched, developed and produced at HAU in spring 2022. They were selected by a jury within the framework of an open call and an online hack space. Which artistic themes, forms and working methods are of perspective importance for the free contemporary digital performance arts? The hybrid work processes were closely accompanied by a camera. The experimental film “NEEDED SPACES” interweaves analogue and digital spaces and provides an insight into the collaboration between the artists and HAU, which revolved around strategies of accessibility and participation.
